Joseph E. Gorga
Joseph Eugene Gorga, 69, of Basking Ridge,
N.J., and Ship Bottom, N.J., passed away just past midnight on Tuesday, Nov.
13, 2012, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Joe was
born in Jamaica, N.Y., but lived most of his life in New Jersey. He dedicated
his professional career to helping emotionally, behaviorally and academically
challenged students redirect their lives towards positive goals, achievement
and personal growth as executive director of the Lord Stirling School in
Basking Ridge and through involvement in ASAH and NAPSEC. Joe was a modern-day
Renaissance man who loved nature, arts, literature, music, fine food, wine, and
the company of friends, family, and his beloved dog, Lord Byron. He loved
cycling, hiking, and spending time at the beach. Not only was he well-respected
professionally, but he was dearly loved by family, friends, and colleagues. Joe
Gorga is survived by two sons, Dr. Russell E. Gorga (and wife Colleen) of
Raleigh, N.C., and Dr. Joseph J. Gorga of Berkeley, Calif.; his grandchildren,
Leonardo and Cecilia, both of Raleigh; his sister, Gail Petteruti of Belvidere,
N.J.; three brothers, Charles Gorga (and wife, Barbara) of Wanaque, N.J., Gary
Gorga (and wife, Gayle) of Hampton, N.J., and Greg Gorga (and wife, Tam) of
Santa Barbara, Calif., and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Joseph E. Gorga memorial fund, care
of Lord
